NVC Extravaganza Day

The NVC Extravaganza Day is an introduction day to Nonviolent Communication (NVC).

We bring together a group of people who are using NVC everyday at work and home life and offer up small presentations and workshops to give people a taste of what this work is about.

Basically its a smorgasbord of tasty NVC treats.

Including

  • Empathy shots
  • NVC in the work environment
  • Parenting
  • Education
  • Relationships
  • Empathy skills intro workshop

As you may be aware of, or not, our son Ben has Cystic Fibrosis and we have had so much support on this journey from CF NZ that we are donating all proceeds from this day, after venue hire, food and tax is taken out, to CF NZ.  All the facilitators are donating their time.

The communication skills we have gained from NVC have been such a huge support to us when it comes to supporting Ben on his journey that we have decided to offer this day to support others who may also be in a similar position to us.

Nikky Tauranga

Centre Manager of Country Bears Nature Childcare Centre

DipTch / Fully Registered Teacher

Nikky is a fully registered Early Childhood teacher.  She is the Centre Manager of a team of approximately 20 staff at a Nature Preschool in Kumeu .  She has two daughters, now aged 15 and 10 who could not be more different in every sort of way.  Nikky has been solo parenting for about 9 years, which through the challenges of social, emotional and development difficulties, NVC has been a pivotal point in helping her children through some very challenging times.  Nikky was first introduced to NVC about 3 years ago and she has found this type of connecting and communicating to be so useful in all  relationships: work, family and friends. It has really helped her to develop trusting, open relationships which helps with transparency and honesty – which is great, especially with her teenager!

Claudia Gray

LEAD EDUCATOR, PRINCIPAL & NVC FACILITATOR

Claudia joined the Akospace team in 2017, when the idea of starting a school was being willed into reality. Today, Ako is in its third year, as a vibrant nature and play-based full primary school on Auckland’s North Shore. The importance of values-based education was first realised to Claudia in her time studying Science and Maths at university. This realisation led her to train as a primary school teacher, with the goal of advocating for positive change for children and adults in education. In her role as a director and teaching principal, Claudia is part of re-imagining learning spaces so that we better nurture children’s learning and development. Alongside her school teaching role, Claudia works with adults and young people to develop their skills in compassionate communication. She continues to be passionate about empowering people with skills to effectively communicate in all relationships.
